The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Senior Auditor from the Office of the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (PCDA) under the Defence Ministry, along with two private individuals, on charges of corruption.

The individuals arrested are identified as Deep Narayan Yadav, a Senior Auditor in the PCDA Office; Akash Kapoor, a defence supplier and owner of Akash Polytechnic Private Limited; and Dinesh, an employee of Mr. Kapoor.

The CBI filed the case on February 7 against the defence supplier and the public official. It was alleged that the official demanded ₹10 lakh from another defence supplier (the complainant) for bills that were already cleared and also threatened to delay the payment of future bills for that supplier.

After negotiations, Mr. Yadav allegedly agreed to accept ₹8 lakh as the initial installment and instructed the complainant to give the amount to Mr. Kapoor.

Based on the information received, the CBI set up a trap and caught Mr. Kapoor’s employee "red-handed" while demanding and accepting the first installment from the complainant. Subsequently, Mr. Kapoor and Mr. Yadav were also detained, according to the agency.
